Dancing in the Flame
Acrylic on canvas, 36 x 36 in, 2018
She is good, and her heart is pure. She stands in the middle of the fire with her violin raised, playing as the flames rise all around her.
It's hot, hot enough to burn anyone else. But she doesn't feel the heat. She feels her faith. Every note she plays is a prayer, and every stroke of the bow is a step in her dance. The fire can surround her, but it can't touch what's inside her.
That's what faith looks like: not the absence of fire, but the courage to keep dancing in it.
